Built by drivers,
for drivers.

Since 2009

A shed in Penrith.
A better idea.

Mark Hargreaves started Trailhead 4x4 in 2009 out of frustration more than ambition. After years of buying parts from catalogues that didn't know their product and getting fitment advice from people who'd never been further west than Parramatta, he decided to do it properly.

The first year was him, a small shopfront on Mulgoa Road, and a philosophy: only stock what we've actually used. That meant turning away brands that didn't hold up. It meant calling customers back when a part didn't suit their build. It meant building a reputation slowly — the right way.

Today the team is fifteen strong, the warehouse covers 1,200 square metres, and we've sent parts to every corner of the country. But the philosophy hasn't changed. We still call you back. We still pull listings when products disappoint. And everyone on the floor drives a 4WD they've built themselves.

How we work

What we stand for.

Honest advice,
always.

We'll tell you when a cheaper part will do the job just as well. We'll tell you when a product isn't suited to your vehicle. We'd rather lose a sale than have you stuck on a track with the wrong gear. That's not marketing — it's how we've kept the same customers for fifteen years.

Tested in the
real world.

Before a brand earns shelf space at Trailhead, someone on our team has run it. We've got rigs that have done the Gibb, the Canning, and some tracks that don't have names. If a product hasn't proven itself, it doesn't get listed. Full stop.

Community
first.

We sponsor local 4WD clubs, run free fitment days at the workshop, and publish build guides that don't sell anything — just share what we know. The 4WD community looked after us when we started. We pay that forward.
